Work

It's (almost) the end of my working week, and I have a fairly favourable report. (This being my lunch break in a liberal office, I am legitimately online for personal reasons)

On sunday I came in to Exeter at 3.30 to, as I thought, meet my boss and discuss the week ahead. However, it turns out that Sunday was the day of the big twice-annual Development Board meeting, in which they plan their strategies and discuss various Big and Important Things. Oh yes, and JS (the boss) wanted me to minute it. I've never taken proper minutes for a meeting before, but would have been prepared to give it a go, had I not been suffering from a very heavy cold; so heavy that it was as much as I could do to concentrate on not curling into a little heap on the floor.
So I sat in and observed, took some notes, and learned a great deal about the way things run, and about some of the people at the college. It also turns out I am to be paid for my time, which is lovely.

Monday's bombshell was that one of the girls in the office is leaving next Friday, and that I might a) be extended to a six month contract and b) if I do well I might possibly maybe be considered for her permanent job. Exciting, but also vaguely scary.

Aside from that, Monday - Wednesday have been ok, managable, but vaguely intellectually stimulating at the same time. Yesterday was a really crappy day, which in retrospect I realise was not helped by PMT, I got really bored doing various pointless tasks, felt patronised, useless, stupid and tiny. Thankfully I bumped into Henry, a 4th year here, and we went out for a drink and he generally laughed me back into a better humour.

Today I finish at 4, which is lovely. I'm learning things rapidly and feeling more useful (since supervising an important mailout and being asked to co-ordinate organising a Gaudy), which is always a good start. Tonight I'm DJ-ing at Green college's bop, which is also good, since the room Exeter have given me is so tiny that I'm trying not to spend too much time in it.

Right, anyway, back to work. (really must get a proper work-like icon)
