There were no sock puppet monsters in Pip and Kabuto's room.

There were an enormous number of shredded socks, and a triumphant looking cat sitting among them, grooming herself.

But no sock puppet monsters.

Merdebaise was board. The tall one was out and the small thing had run under the bed.

Bored bored bored. She thought she might go out and kill something if something else didn't happen soon.

Pip groaned, took another bunch of pain pills, and rolled over, wondering when the ice would be done freezing.

Pip? Might have been freaking out a wee bit. Because this whole date thing was way, way, way over his head.

As he tied his tie and shrugged into the jacket of the only suit he owned, he wondered how on earth this was going to go.

Pip nodded and hung up the phone.

So, it was a job he couldn't refuse.

It was a personal job.

He sat down at his computer and started to compose an e-mail.

Pip was, in a word, bored.

Not much to do but stay in bed, sleep, and occasionally have some soup. This is not as constantly fun as it may sound. Especially when you happen to know that all your friends are having fun at a beach party while you're at home sick.

Not that he was jealous or anything.

Pip sipped at the remains of some soup and sneezed again. From across the room, Merdebaise eyed him, as if to say "KEEP EATING SO THAT YOU MAY REGAIN YOUR STRENGTH SO THAT WE MAY DO BATTLE AGAIN!"

This was, in fact, exactly what Merdebaise was saying. Only without the allcaps.

Alright, so it wasn't technically Father's Day any longer. That meant Pip didn't have to do this, right?
