Ok, now i'm hoping everyone will read this because I want everyone to know just how this place is.
My mom recently walked out of her job shortly after my dad and her dad died (they both died within weeks of each other). The place she worked was The Olive Garden Family Restaurant on Portage Avenue @ Polo Park. She worked there FOURTEEN YEARS and finally she decided the corrupt assholes that run the place, weren't worth her time.
So she walked off her job...
She recently applied for another job to pass the time but when she called The Olive Garden to get a reference, one of her managers (his name is Jason) just started reeming her out on the phone! He was telling her that she was a shitty employee and a bad person, saying that he was going to do everything in his power to make sure she never gets another job. Telling her that he's going to use her as an example on why NOT to hire someone like her (as well as put her name on the website and explain what she did wrong and why not to hire her). He was telling her nobody likes her and other crap. What did she do wrong? She just left her job..nothing else..she just left and didnt turn back and this is the treatment she's getting.
Now I dont know about most of you, but I think all of us have done that at least once. Just left a job that sucked. Although I can understand a person being mad, when you're a manager of a reputable restaurant. You dont make it personal by attacking people this way. That's just plain wrong and called Defamation of Character. She was an EXCELLENT employee for those 14 years. If she wasnt, they would have fired her a long time ago.
So anyway, when my mom went back to the store she applied to and asked the lady what her ex-manager said about her, he told this store manager (the one she's applying to) that my mom is insane and not to hire her. Well..as you might have guessed, I freaked out when I heard that. My mom has been crying and upset for days (its been about a week now) and she cant sleep and she feels like a bad person and that she's worthless.
She put her WHOLE LIFE into that job and this is the treatment she's getting from The Olive Garden after 14 years. Now, let me tell you a few things from my experience with this olive garden. They have always (at the polo park location) been corrupt. If you were friends or buddies with someone high up, you got the job. You got a raise and you were promoted within months.
It just so happens this jason guy is one of those guys that was promoted quickly because he was friends with someone else. Now, they've also falsely accused people that work for them, of stealing..simply because they didnt like the person. Of course, that person got fired because he couldnt prove he DIDNT steal, but apparently "the managers had witnesses". So instead of fighting these accusations, most people just left (and to this day, nobodies fought it). One of THE best employees and people I've ever known was accused simply because he knew about the corruption and wouldnt stand for it. Less then a month later (like probably a week) he was fired (but hejust quit instead).
I've seen so many people treated like shit at that place and this last case proves it.
If anyone reads this, please repost this on a forum of yours or something. Even if you dont care, this will only take a couple seconds and it'll spread the word of how employees are treated there. As an employee there myself, I never got breaks because "it was too busy". For 6 months I worked there for 8 hours a day almost EVERY day..not ONCE had i EVER taken a break (lunchbreak or otherwise). I finally just walked out myself because I couldnt stand how it was run..the favoritism, the brown nosing bastards that run the place.
The only thing I can think of right now, is that my mom has wasted her life working her ASS off there and having nothing to show for it but a fucking Arrogant assholes words against hers. Unfortunately this arrogant asshole is the manager and she cant get a job because of him.
I've currently already emailed the CEO (yes the CEO of Olive Garden) and explained the situation using vague details about who I am and whats going on. I mentioned that I want results or I'm taking it to the press. I also mentioned that I want them fast because I plan on spreading the word about how The Olive Garden treats its employees and hires its underlings (managers). This situation is complete bullshit and I wont stand for it.
Whether or not you guys post this on sites where you are, is up to you. I will be doing it on my end as well as emailing it to people to spread the word. I will see results from this and I expect to see them within a timely manner.
