2nd hand CD = Downloading?
Just curious, I had a very interesting thought about 2nd hand CD stores. I'm just curious in this day and age where piracy runs unstoppably rampant on the P2P networks of the world wide web, is the purchase of a 2nd hand CD justifiable? I for one, can see the joy of buying an old, long lost cheap 2nd hand CD for collecting and be amazed at the find of such a treasure, but in regards of buying 2nd hand CD's of a artist still making his living on his CD sales, is a 2nd hand CD really the way to go? The artist doesn't make nay money off this and well, I'm just thinking apart from the thrill of having a CD you might as well download it instead? I'd like to think that anyone who goes out and buys a CD generally goes out and feels that they support the artist when they make that purchase, I'm not focusing on the millionaire popstars selling too heavily with image and massive voice modifications and just following what the record company thinks is trendy and anyways, the record company gets most of the money there, in the case of a fair few of the bands I listen too, this puts food on the table, rather then saving up for more bling. On the other hand, a 2nd hand CD sale generally can be seen as a punishment to the artist by making someone by his CD to find a way to somehow recoup some of his money to make up for his displeasure of a poor quality product rather then having the buyer go out and buy a new CD to support the artist.
Anyways, sorry for the 2nd rant, just was a bit bored and this interested me a fair bit.
