Adelaide ^^

I had a friend warn me about how dull and bland Adelaide would be, I've had a whole bunch of people say that I'm wasting my time and effort for such a short overnight trip for some concert. I've taken a bit from people in terms of going to Adelaide by myself instead of having the comfort of internet friends and also having Kerry Anne who's tagged along with many to many raves, concerts and industrial gigs like this. As I said in a previous post, here's the story of how everyone else was wrong and how it ended to be one of the best nights of my life. Here's a hint why, :P

I woke up just in time, packed my clothes quickly and raced to the airport and managed to get onto my flight with a decent amount of time to spare, managed to trip the metal detectors off thanks to my mega platform shoes of doom which recently kicked a broken door without a doorknob down, these shoes are so growing on me.

Jetstar might be a 'budget' airline as such, meaning that entertainment and food were at a premium which was no problem considering it was around $330 return. The cabin was spacious and there was plenty of room unlike what my mother told me about Tiger in comparison, it was one of the prettiest interiors and the seats were extremely comfortable, they're a bitch to sleep in but like that's not a problem on any other airline. Oh The airline was decked out in silver and orange, they had a guide to travelling around Japan, cheap airfares, honestly I really enjoyed the flight even though I slept for most of it.

I literally was clueless with accommodation and picked YHA while wandering around due to it's proximity which was literally about a 5 minute walk to the venue tops, I can't really make much of a comment on the place or Adelaide in general since I barely spent any time in either. My first mission was to find a place to watch the F1 which I managed to do with 10 minutes to spare and it was quite a race too, found the venue after the race and people were lining up hours before the gig had started! It's not looking like a walk up to the front row within 10 seconds of the band starting with Kerry Anne this time like with every other gig at Sin. XP

I got myself ready and I must say a mega thanks to Wynona of Eletriklothing who did my hair for Wai-Con and it perfectly suited for this gig. I rocked up and was amazed at the outfits and the effort people went to putting into dressin up for this gig. Unlike what I thought or expected it was a huge mixture and a nice varied crowd, it was all ages so there was a good mix of ages and also it wasn't the stereotypical goth and a few cybergoth kids, there was a variety of lolitas, decoras, kandi, cyber, goth, fetish and a nice mixture of all of them, which was quite an extrodinary sight.

I guess this was the scary point, I found a convience store and stocked up on Samedi and glow sticks and it didn't take much before people started talking to me and I was having a good chat to a lot of the people at the door, people have always wondered if my dream event would be more like Sin or a rave, well neither, it would have been like tonight. Very quickly after our intros we started talking about anime, DDR and getting a horrifying tour of Adelaide, it was nice to know where people get shot and stabbed, bwahahahahaha.

We got let in and it was somewhat smaller then Sin, although there was a bigger balcony area, not that we cared, we all wanted to get as close up as possible and seriously, this was Adelaide they actually like their music here so I didn't get in the front row for Sisen, or heck any band for once! When Sisen came on, my god, it was like a dream come true, this guy is literally one of my biggest idols, visually but in terms of what his performance and in real life I would see but I was so happy just to see him in real life, let alone him playing.

His set was really hard to describe, it was a bizarre hybrid of hardcore, trance, hardstyle, noise, speedcore and gabba, it worked and it rocked I've never heard a set that original and pounded insanely hard as well. His stage presence was amazing, too many DJ's have this whole concept of being a god and constantly trying show off how cool they are, Sisen is far from this, he just acts purely as himself and jumps around on stage, pushing buttons and interacting with the whole crowd just for fun and just being himself. The best bit was this was hardly a show, this was his true personality.

I've seen Brisk, Scott Brown, Neophyte, Pendulum, Neophyte, Felix Da Housecat, Fischerspooner, Breeze, Styles, Dougal, Gammer, Hixxy, Unknown, Scooter and many other great DJ's in my time but if I had the choice of going to a rave with all those DJ's or another set of Sisen, I would not hesitate for Sisen, it was something that nobody else could simply do, he's got a cult like status on the internet and having seen it in real life, he more then lives up to it and is way more then just eye kandi!

GPKISM was next, I was very open towards checking out the next act but I didn't get my hopes up in case this would merely be an average filler band, they overblew my expectations once again, absolutely amazing outfits again, for those who haven't heard of them, they're very similar to Noir Du Soleil in terms of style but musically they sound quite different. They put an amazing show, they had some absolutely amazing songs and honestly they were good enough for me to buy their album and it's a close toss up between them and Noir for my fav Australian band atm. They are one band I urge everyone to seriously consider checking out.

There was a decent break between them and Aural Vampire and I ended up having a lot of fun in the break, one guy actually mistook me for Sisen, which was a nice compliment although he was megaly wasted and was found passed outside after the show. I had a lot of fun meeting Sisen and it was a very interesting experience since he was so friendly and also he didn't speak much English which made things way more fun, since he started hugging me, playing with my hair, took photos on both my camera and his, he even tried to grab my ass, which I was mega amused about, mega win. XD

I must admit I don't like to be that much of a fanboy when it comes to celebrities and people but Sisen is one of my idols if not my favouritest since he's a huge motivation on someone I look up to heavily and I only look up to him more after that night I must say. The other people I got to meet were really awesome and great to talk to and is a huge reminder of why I love the anime/cosplay scene, natural hyperactivity, none of this I'm so fucked bullshit, the sugared up hyperactivity tonight was amazing and the people I got to talk to, meet and hang out with were great. One person recognised me from Wai-Con, another person taught me how to make a few different types of dreads and I had a lot of fun chatting to so many interesting and unique people.

Aural Vampire came on and they were honestly one of my favourite bands, for those yet to hear of them, they're the number 1 japanese industrial/synthpop act and their performance proved why this would be. Their outfits looked amazing, even though most outfits start to pale in comparison to Sisen's and also GPKISM's though. Chika sounded absolutely amazing life and they had an amazing show put on as well, I was impressed that rather then simply having Raveman push buttons on a keyboard to create sounds, they actually used hammers and metal to make some interesting live sound effects. Her second outfit was drop dead sexy as well, overall, I even got to hear Banboro Koubou, my favourite and it brought back flashbacks to the Wai-con parade this year. Quite simply up there for one of the best live acts I've seen.

The saddest thing was that it came to an end, this was pretty crazy, three bands with absolutely no lowlights or weak points that I could complain about. I came into the gig with literally no friends, not knowing a single person and yet somehow I was one of the most popular people there, if there was one complain, that is that Adelaide people aren't very internet capable with very few of them having msn and none on myspace or facebook, *cries*, so I might never get to hear from them again but the little time I spend with them was awesome though and there were two people who even walked me back to my hostel for me which I thought was really cool and nice of them.

I was not able to sleep that night, having caught a plane off early home, had a random adventure trying to help a Perth guy stuck in Adelaide back home, fought off work and sleep deprivation today, I still have the biggest smile on my face, I will never forget how magical that night was. <3
