"Fore!"
Reese looked away from the screen as the curtains began to draw shut and glanced at her friend though the corner of her eye. After a moment Shelly turned and flashed a watery smile back.
"You liked it then?" Shelly reached out and brushed her fingers over the top of Reese's hand before taking it in her own and giving a gentle squeeze.
"He would have loved it." She said with just enough volume to be heard over the people exiting the cinema.
"I know," she hung her head and looked up through her fringe. "I've got used to the idea that he loved me. But I wanted to know about you."
Shelly paused before curling Reese's hair behind her ear and lifting her chin up off her chest. Her eyes sparkled with fresh tears and something else as she spoke.
"I do too."
It didn't matter that the lights were back on or that a teenage boy had started sweeping up old popcorn; when they leaned into each other, they were alone.
"Mm," Reese opened her eyes and stood up, offering Shelly a hand. "So I was thinking of moving back home, any thoughts?"
"Yes and please."
