Steph asked me the other day if I might be able to get her hooked up to do some voice-over work on the radio. As it happened, I had to go to the radio station in Bradford--WESB-AM--that very day, so I told her I'd ask. The news director is a long-time friend, and she's known Steph for years, and she was delighted to hear Steph was interested because they need another female voice for their commercials, especially now that the holidays are here and there are a ton of ads that need produced.
Today, I took Steph down to audition and she nailed it. She had to do voice-overs for thirty-second two spots, and she hit them both on the first time through. "I hate you already," my friend Anne laughed. Her inflection and everything was so good that she passed the audition then and there, and before she knew it, she was whisked in to talk with the GM to finalize details. She'll start later this week or next.
On the way home, I warned, "This is further evidence that you're turning into your Old Man, you know." ;-)
