summer camp has been great so far. i have friend crushes on the entire international staff, especially Deedz, who is from south africa. my favorite british slang words i've learned so far are "kip" and "fader" which mean nap and lame (i.e. the first to go to bed, party pooper, etc.), respectively. yesterday i almost rode an old horse named Coalie but we had give up our plans to go trail riding when wrangling the horses proved more difficult than expected (goddamn you, Abu). it's weird and fun with peter working in the kitchen. he's a great cook and a really good addition to the staff. i ride my bike everywhere which hasn't happened since i was about 12. reading near the lake with a view of the pasture full of horses and the huge blue sky full of clouds is so peaceful. i already know it's going to be one of my favorite places to be this summer.
for about a year now life has seemed like a crazy rush of social and sensory overload. it's been impossible to concentrate on any one thing in particular since i can't help giving in to all happy distractions around me. i guess it makes sense that i still have no idea what i'm going to be up to in the fall.
today is my mom's birthday and i haven't done the math to figure out exactly how old she is. my sister is downstairs making some exotic seafood dish. we're going to my uncle's tonight.
