The past few days have been long and drawn out for Mia, who has been staying by Miles' side almost the entire time. Surviving on the lowest amount of sleep possible, she's forced herself to watch over him diligently. The only time she departs from his room is when she's forced to leave, or does so on her own free will for a hour or two.

She walks towards Edgeworth's room silently, having only left for her current lifeline; a rather strong cup of coffee [just one of many consumed]. It seems to be the only thing keeping her moving as of late. Mia's eyes stop only for a second on a small group of nurses, who are congregated around the door, whispering about something related to the patient; Edgeworth.

Her approaching presence is enough to break up the social gathering, if only for a little while. Mia slowly makes her way back into his room, taking a seat at the chair closest to Miles' bed. "...I'm sorry that I had to leave you alone for a while."

The prosecutor is pretty much the same everytime. Considering there isn't anything more that can be done, monitoring his progress is the only option available.

His status has gradually improved, but not too much. The vitals machine shows more normal values, but they're still rather low.

The only motion from him is the occasional movement from his hands, mainly from the one not attached to the injured shoulder, which tries to almost grip at the sheets. It could just be a reflex, though, so nobody on staff seems to notice it.

((ooc: Feel free to go back and forth. I'll post again when I find a good moment to. ^^))

A sigh escapes Mia's lips as she looks back over at the sleeping prosecutor. For a moment, she was hoping for him to react to her voice; to wake up and say something. Instead, his position seems unchanged, which only increases the tension in her body.

Her free hand is gently placed over his own, fingertips gliding over the back of his knuckles in a circular motion. The feel of his skin bothers her, but Mia feels that if Miles can't hear her voice, then touch is the only way to express emotion to him right now.

Distracted by his condition, she seems oblivious to anything else at the moment. Even if someone was to enter the room at this very second, Mia wouldn't notice at all.

((Okay, sounds good here.))

People have a tendency to try and ignore Phoenix anyway.

He knocks a bit on the door so that he doesn't come in completely unannounced. Seeing Edgeworth in that state sends another little twinge of guilt through him -- guilt that it was Edgeworth who got the worst of things, guilt that he's riding so much of his own future on Edgeworth's recovery. Guilt that Bruno and Gant would, God willing, answer for someday.

He sits down, after a length. "How's he doing?"

Mia won't come back into the room until a few hours later, most likely once after Phoenix is gone and she's gotten a decent amount of sleep for once. It's late in the evening when she returns to Miles' room, carrying a small bag with her. Some sort of gift, perhaps?

Either way, she steps back into the room and sits back down in her seat from earlier. It's nicer this time around, since it seems like things are quieter and not as many people are around [excluding a nurse that might be standing outside his door].

The bag is sat down on the floor gently, as Mia moves herself next to him once more. "Sorry to just re-invite myself in here, but the staff said I could so...Are you still doing alright?"

Miles is sleeping when Mia returns, but hearing her enter as well as hearing her voice is enough to cause him to awaken. He smiles tiredly at her, and pushes himself up into a sit as much as his injuries could allow.

He's still very tired, as his body is still healing, but he's so happy to see Mia again.

"Yes, I am doing fine." He will reach up and gently touch the side of her face. "How are you doing? Did you manage to get some rest?"

For a moment, Mia feels bad for waking Miles up. Then again, the last few times she's come to visit him in a hospital, he's been sleeping, so seeing him awake is a good thing. Part of her wants to say something about him moving around so much though, but she keeps quiet.

She's happy to see him as well though, smiling at him, while bringing one hand to his face also. As long as he doesn't mind her touch, of course.

"Good. It seems like you're doing a lot better than before." Mia blushes a little once his fingers graze her face. His touch feels nice to her right now. "I'm doing much better now. I went home and got some rest, like you wanted me to. But I still wanted to come and spend some time with you regardless."

She nods, before glancing over to the doorway, then back to him. "I doubt I'll get to stay long, since I know the staff around here are probably going to ask me to leave soon."

Considering all the fatigue-induced sleeping he's going to end up doing, and has done over the past few days, being woken up is really one of the better things he can hope for currently.

Nothing's changed the fact that he's impatient and stubborn, though.

"I am. I should be ready to go home soon." He's totally not, but still. He's going to push his recovery as much as possible. Managing a smile at her touch, he tries to move again, which takes a lot of effort, but moves so she has enough room to sit on the bed.

"That is fine. I will make sure they don't turn you away." And he means it, too. He'll argue if he has to.
