I can't wait to move.

This place has finally got to me after constant burlgaries/thefts/things breaking/leaking/damp/prostitues last week finally took the biscuit. Got our gas meter nicked. Who would steal a gas meter for gods sake? I found out after going to get a shower before going out to MFR on Thursday a couple of weeks ago. I was really excited and then realised we had no hot water. Tried the gas hob - nothing. Went downstairs to find that the gas meter (round the back of the building) had gone. Phoned British Gas aka the most useless bunch of tools in the world, who told me that they didn't know anything about it but that someone fro Transco would be round before midnight to look at it. I stupidly assumed that they'd replace the meter. So we had to stay in and wait for him, when he did come he simply stopped the gas from pouring out and told us we'd have to ring BG the next morning to arrange for someone to come and fit a new meter. Well, I rang at 8am and they said someone would be round before 9am to fit a new one as it was seen as an emergency. at 9.30 I rang again. And at 11. And then 12.30. This was on Adam's day off and we had lots of plans but instead, to cut a long story short, we spent the day waiting in and no one came. After 38 calls (that was the count on my phone, more on Adam's) we found out that no one was coming after all, and that we would need to contact the police to get a crime number before anyone would come out. We also had to do this before the office shut in an hours time. We managed to do it and arrange for someone to come out, unfortunately the earliest would be Monday so we were the enitre weekend without heating/water/gas. So we couldn't cook any food (no microwave, never needed one before) apart from toast and salad basically.

It was shite.

On the Monday I was at work, I had a CRB check for my job at 4.30. Adam rang me, saying the guy had been round to fit the new meter but wasn't qualified to reconnect the gas. So had to arrange for a plumber to come round to do that. The plumber was coming at 5.30 so it would be tight as I didn't know how long the CRB check would take but I thought I'd make it. So at lunch time I check I've got all my ID for the CRB check in the afternoon and realise that I've picked up Adam's passport instead of my own. Knowing that if I missed the appointment it would have to be put back another week I decided that I'd go and get it at lunch time - I have an hour lunch break and usually it takes me 45/50 minutes to get to work in the morning, so I had to bomb it back to Whalley Range then back to Oldham and managed it in about 60 minutes, get in!

So on the way to the CRB check place, my car broke down. Didn't know how long it would take for the AA to come out, so abandoned Pearl and walked it. Had check done, went back to car, AA came out really quickly (thanks AA) managed to get home and get gas reconnected.

What. A. Day.

ANYWAY now we have heating and water again, it's wonderful.

This weekend was much better though, went to Satans on Friday which was ok, but was supposed to meet with audiologists but they didn't turn up til really late and we'd already gone! then on Saturday was the alldayer at the Attic, it was so much fun! The Don Ramos Players were really awesome, and hanging round with people was awesome, it was nice seeing some different faces!

Tonight it Adam's bands first gig at Retrobar, I'm excited, I hope everything goes well! The demo is ace, I'm dead proud.

I'm also finishing off my dissertation and trying to forget about the other 5000 words worth of assignments I've still got to start, and I'm finishing in a month. That is just scary.
