I am well chuffed. Considering we live in Manchester, when we put bird feeders out in the back garden (which is really the car park with the wheelie bins, a large patch of overgrown grass and a massive old tree) we expected to get some blue tits or wood pigeons, sparrows and the like. But we have all sorts coming now, including nuthatches, tree creepers, grey wagtails, bull finches and loads more. And today we have had our first black cap and goldfinch visiting! My favourite is a lesser spotted woodpecker who now comes every day and is in fact there at the moment.

It's amazing what a bit of animal fat with seeds in it can do.
