sphere like plush

I really want to make a plushie of a katamari and i was looking for a tutorial or even a picture and i stumbled across this:




now my question is, how does one go about making a round plushie? i see that they used a series of pentagons and i wasnt sure if there was a pattern for this, or how many i would need to make the circle. it kind of seems like they used twelve of them, but im not sure. im really pretty new at this, so any help or input would be helpful.
