I waited until I was calm, and not mad, but guess what? My scroll got lost at Coronation. Freaking sucks all to hell! Luckily it was found, by me, where I was told to put it, it sat there through the "last" court and everyone thought it wasn't turned in. But I had already shown some people the finished scroll, and it was turned in, I even told the

I was standing nearer to the heralds' scroll table during First Court, towards mid-court, and heard no such whispering about a scribe not turning something in. Possible that it happened during the early portion of the court. Either way, it would have been informational, not gossip, if any whispering was being done by the heralds.
As it were, there was a very sharp speech given after the court was over, about making sure scroll encasements had all contents removed prior to discarding. There have been issues in the past where one scroll was removed from a slipcover that contained two, and the second was accidentally discarded by an unknowing person.
I can't speak directly for lumineaux, however, as someone who is volunteering to assist her, I can tell you Coronation's a pretty hectic event, and if her table is unattended before her arrival but after mine - if I am not already committed to assisting TRM directly and immediately, or otherwise changing, I will be sure to sit down and take down the names of the scribes checking in scrolls.
Alys keeps a master list of who is turning in what. If I'm not privy to that list for the day, I can at least get a name and a scroll count for her to check against. I'll go propose this idea to her tonight, if you don't mind.

And I know how crazy it can be, I have been in royal rooms, and worked in royal rooms as retainers and such. So I understand.
It is just lately I have not been having such good luck with scrolls. I also only put one scroll per envelope because of the stories I have heard with the second one being tossed, and I make sure when I turn it in, if there is no "case" set out to put the scrolls on/in, that I make eye contact with the herald and see some kind of acknowledgement that they have now taken possession of the scroll and it is ok to walk away from it.

It's not a perfect system. Things go wonky when you don't expect them to. I just hope there's a "Plan B" in effect in the event that Spring War Prac becomes another rainfest, since the place has plenty of land, but little indoor space. I'm sure Alys or whomever is running the show that day has a Game Plan.
It could always be worse. :) There's plenty of scribal horror stories to share, when time avails itself... Maybe after my husband and I are settled in to the new house I can focus on those tales.
Are you heading to Balfar's Challenge this weekend?

Congrats on the house! I know you have been working on that for a long time now.
We can trade tales later. :) Have a great weekend.

Yes, it's been a year and a half of househunting, and this is under our second realtor. The first realtor is the source of at least two "NSTIW" stories.
Storytime will have to happen with a good mug of beer in hand. If we don't meet up soon, there's always War of the Roses, depending on what's going on there. :D
