Hmmm, maybe I should try that with that finance company that keeps calling and calling and calling. Not for us, but for a friend of my SO, who gave them our number as a way to get a message to her...now, how do you say, I'm sorry, I don't understand in french?

A properly accented "Hallo?" works in most situations, but that's what caller ID is for, neh?
FWIW, French telephone greeting is "Allo?", and I remember "Hallo" from my German texts. I'm not going to try to phonetically spell the Russian, even though I can pronounce it. ^_^> Of course, I can throw on a foreign accent at the drop of a hat, and once managed to convince a persistent Mormon at a bus stop that I was flying home to Budapest right after my chess tournament.
