[In case anyone was planning on not showing up, Ms. Zandt had made it VERY clear to all of her English classes that she expects participation in one form or another from everyone.]
[As you wander into the gym, echo-y and somewhat dark as only one bank of lights is currently illuminated, you find Ms. Zandt, Mr. Veidt, Mr. Dreiberg, and Ms. Juspeczyk sitting or standing around a battered wooden table, chatting casually. There's a stack of forms on the table and several pens. Next to the table is a piano, which clearly has also seen better days.]
[Ursula greets each student with variations on the theme of:] I'm glad to see you made it to the tryout. Here's a short form to fill out, just so I can keep track of everyone. [She hands you a pen and a copy of the form, which reads:]
Thank you for your interest in CSHS's production of The Rocky Horror Show
Name:
Auditioning for a major or minor part?
Any previous theater/musical/dance experience? (If so, please list)
Are you interested in helping out in a backstage/technical capacity? If so, any special interests/previous experience?
You'll be asked to sing a short song and read a short piece which will be provided to you. If you have a monologue and/or a song prepared, you can use them instead. Ms. Juspeczyk will teach you a basic dance possibly the Time Warp from the show. We may also ask you to sing a duet or read a dialogue with someone else.
As you are probably aware, The Rocky Horror Show deals with a variety of romantic and sexual situations. To show your versatility and comfort level with such topics, you'll finish your audition by attempting to 'seduce' one of the teachers. Feel free to have fun with it!
[People spread out, holding the questionnaire to a wall or kneeling on the floor to scrawl their answers. When you finish the form, you can come back to the table to hand it in and your audition starts.]
