* Odo and Vimes and J'onn are my three awesome snarky incorruptible police-type guys from three different universes. They're all sort of cranky antisocial loners who care more about justice than anything else and who secretly love little kids. *has not got a type, noooo precious* ;-)
* J'onn is extremely dignified, Martian (thus green), and has the coolest deadpan sense of humor in the multiverse. On Justice League: The Animated Series he's voiced by this guy with a REALLY DEEP VOICE, like "James Earl Jones sounds squeaky now" deep, and he's one of these offhandedly selfless characters that are also *I still don't have a type*. ;-)
* Odo's natural form is orange CGI goo, he sleeps in a bucket, that's him in the icon. (He has trouble with noses.) Absolutely adorable in a grumpy sort of way. He's more of a martial-law, fascist person than the other two... aagh Vimes and Odo I need to write that fic now! o_O
* Vimes is a short scruffy-looking cynical Ankh-Morpork cop who starts out drunk. READ THE BOOKS. ;-) He doesn't think much of career soldiers, but in other respects he has a fair amount of Brigliness in his own way, so him vs the Brig would be FIREWORKS EVERYWHERE.
* Uhura: spiffy awesome communications officer on the original Star Trek. Black, female, classiest lady in seven galaxies. She'd make an excellent college professor or anything else she turned her hand to, and is probably the only person ever to look (and be) thoroughly kicka** while wearing a velour sports bra and miniskirt with lamé sash in that one episode. One half of TV's first interracial kiss - the other half was Captain Kirk, obvs.
* Janet: extremely short (1.6m) female military doctor, made of pure awesome. So cool she doesn't even have to do much of anything to intimidate Marines, pwn bureaucrats, and generally be THAT FANTASTIC - but she does anyway. Cures alien diseases, tells off generals, the whole nine yards.
* Nancy Blackett: from a 1930s British book series, Swallows and Amazons. Pirate captain tomboy who sails on Lake Windermere and plays pirate captain. Way cooler than that sounds. Made a fantastic crossover with Liz Shaw, which I can't find atm because I am slightly fail. o_O
