The power of receptionists

Jan 20, 2009 10:51

Yeah, the phenomenonal LOLcats. I just thought I include a cute picture to brighten up your day, whoever you may be. Not to mention, it's hard to look for pictures elsewhere because some of zem dont even show up on my Safari and the Firefox in this Mac doesn't work. Also, I believe, it's because it's an older version of a Mac.

Enough tech talk. It's another random post from the office as the intern here had a sudden revelation about receptionists. Especially inspired when she picked up the 130th phone call. I know, I'm a lil slow.

The big truth I discovered is that receptionists are VERY powerful in the office. You know why? They control the phone lines, direct them to respective people, be the path and mediator between caller and ... colleague in the office. "Hi, I'm calling from XXX and would like to enquire bout your advertising rates..." "Please hold." and transfer call to respective colleague. Powerful right?

Otherwise, the other people would have to pick up every single call with which bout more than half of them perhaps are not even relevant to them. Unless you're the editor here because half of them are for the editor, as is the mail (which the receptionist endorses with a stamp and a signature - ah, the signatures must be everywhere now).

Witness the power now?

On another note this just happened like 10 minutes ago.

Sales Colleague places phone call on loudspeaker while it connects and someone picks up:
Phone: Hi, this is Christina Aguilera...
Sales Collegue: Wth...
Colleague next to her: Hahahahaha
Colleague: Wow, Christina Aguilera *giggles*

Just to clarify, it was some voice mail message. Kinda like those custom Phua Chu Kang ones.

And back to reviews,
レイラ。

Edit: I'm sorry I'm not reading my f-page and leaving comments. But I promise I'll be more active around once semester starts again. Now it's just work, work, work and work...and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. >_
