Don't you just love when you start watching something and you realise quite suddenly that it's actually GOOD? That this piece of entertainment is more than just entertaining -- that it goes about its business with quality.
That's one of the best feelings in the world to me. I get that when I watch Casablanca. I got that the first time I watched The Karate Kid (which is why all subsequent sequels are ignored by moi.)
And now that I've both started -- and completed -- all episodes of The Good Wife, I can say for certain that this show has this wonderful quality.
Not to say that other shows on TV are lacking, but after the first half of the pilot I was convinced TGW was doing everything right. And it amazed me that this seemed exceptional. The good storytelling, good characters, good camera work... good everything. I'm simply captivated by the show which accomplishes what it sets out to.
Also, I like the way they balance the lawyer/politics/family show atmosphere. I think more shows need that balance. Many right now seem to focus one way, then switch the next week. If I tune into a show, I would like that show to be the same one I saw the previous week.
So Bravo for The Good Wife, I look forward to your future. It looks good.
