Happy Mother's Day!

I was a mentor at PeaceJam this weekend and it was amazing! ...even though our Nobel Laureate (Jose Ramos-Horta) couldn't come, since he's the Foreign Minister for East Timor- there were riots there and 75% of the people fled from the capital, Dili, into the mountains this week- so he had to actually do his job by trying to calm his people, which was kind of cool b/c it made him seem more like a real peace keeper! He did talk to us over live broadcast from E. Timor, so we got presidential treatment! :) Overall, the weekend was really fun and I feel like I made some sort of difference...it was really inspiring to see that 200+ high schoolers are dedicated to peace and have been doing a lot to help their community and others worldwide! The students really opened up and it was great how comfortable they were by the end...many shared their stories of tragedy (and their triumph over it) with the whole large group! The weekend made me feel better about how every little bit you do helps... A guy fro Detroit who barely grad. high school with the help of his (now) wife came up w/ the idea and started PeaceJam...so, literally, one person can actually make a huge impact on the world!
I am hoping that I can be a mentor at the PeaceJam in Denver this Sept. b/c it's the 10th anniversary and all of the Nobel Laureates that can make it will be there- including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu! It's the weekend of my birthday and we don't have a x-c meet....seems like fate to me!

Global Frequency has been these coupld of wks...I saw Black Bottom Collective (hip hop) Thur and they were awesome! They were inspiring as well..."Everything you say can and will change the world!"

ON ANOTHER NOTE-
my brother sleep walks....well last week, he climbs out his window onto the roof and falls off! Oh and he's still asleep when he walks to the door...and then finally wakes up! Luckily he wasn't hurt or anything, except his back is all "rug burned" because he had to climb through the slat of his bunkbed b/c he knew the other window was locked!! We don't know if he'll have to go on medication or something b/c the dr. thought he would grow out of these night terrors, but he's 16 and still has them...it's scary!

Friday night I got an email from my mom to the whole family saying that my dad just got heart surgery!! He saw a cardiologist and went in the hospital today for a cardiac cath. they found blockage in front of the heart and put a stint in and he'll be on meds for at least 6 mos. The doctor said that if he did not have this done he most certainly would've had a heart attack within a few weeks!

I'm glad my family is alright... we're lucky!

I feel pretty crappy, though that I found out about my dad through an email!

AND I called my house today, but no answer...so no talking to my mom on mother's day :(

I am thankful for you all and love you!
