I havent posted much lately.  Been very inward focused.  Still am.

But, since Im sitting in the pause in a flurry of multi-tasking, I'll take this time to pat myself on the back.  You see, the multi-tasking is primarily cooking related.  Ive already frozen several dozen tomatoes for sauce making, as well as shredded, pre-measured and frozen zucchini for bread making during the long dark winter.  Ive been getting loads of eggplant recently at the CSA, so today I decided to make and freeze a lasagna.  Its also leek season, so potato leek soup was in order too.  So, on the way home, I popped into the discount store for a throw away lasagna pan, then off to the farmer's market for onion, celery, potatoes, parsley and some more leeks.  Got home, tossed the laundry in and started on the lasagne. Change the laundry from washer to dryer while the lasagne cooked (halfway, the remainder to be cooked during the winter) and started chopping leeks for soup.  Folded laundry while the soup  bubbled, and am chattering while the soup cools before blending to the smooth leeky goodness.  Im so happy that nearly every ingredient in the two things was locally grown.  And SO very much cheaper than grocery store.

I find it amusing that people think that cooking and/or healthy food is so much more expensive than processed/frozen foods.  I have a sizeable lasagna and a whole big vat of soup for.... um, less than $25 I think.  Maybe less than $30.. might have totalled $28 since I had to go buy fresh cheeses and whole grain lasagna pasta at the grocery....
