I forgot to note down that we had around 30 children visiting us for Hop-tu-Naa, going by how many bags of sweeties we got through.
One group of 3 girls, aged about 11 or so, said 'Trick or Treat?' when I opened the door. I replied 'I'm sorry, we don't do Trick or Treat in this house,' and shut the door. It being a glass door I could see them looking at the decorations with slightly bemused expressions, then I opened it again and said 'But we do give sweets for songs...'
They sang. No trouble as they clearly knew the words. I gave them sweets. Nobody else needed reminding that this was Hop-tu-Naa not an American Halloween 😊
That was Tuesday evening. By yesterday I was at a WI craft evening making felt Christmas decorations...
It was a lovely evening, our chairwoman led it and we sat and chatted and laughed while we cut and sewed. Our branch chairwoman is not what many people visualise when they think of the WI - Cath is in her late thirties with bright pink hair :)
And I made these;
Nowhere near as intricate as the lovely things
wiseheart makes - but I was pleased with them :)
This is also a
picowrimo Month - you may well have heard of NaNoWriMo where people attempt to write a whole novel during November - this is a small group which is to encourage people to write something each day, with none of the sense of urgency of NaNo. It doesn't have to be fic, just whatever you feel you need a bit of encouragement with, from updating your journal, to writing to family members, or jotting down your memoirs 😊 If you would like to join this friendly group you would be very welcome.
Me? I aim to get at least one chapter of Going Home written before Christmas swallows me up totally!
