Garden Clearing!

On Saturday it was wet. All day. I had arranged for a young man called Albert to get rid of a lot of the overgrowth (and undergrowth for that matter) in the garden and cut the hedge. He said he would bring some assistance as it was a big job - hence doing it on Saturdays as his mates probably have other jobs during the week! However when I ( Read more... )

They did - and in cold, horrible, weather. I would certainly recommend them to anyone wanting something similar done!

They did an impressive amount of garden clearing.

I love all the early spring flowers. We won't see them here for another month.

They did - leaving the shrubs that looked healthy thinned out, so there are still places for the birds.

I am really happy about the bulbs - I will plant more for next spring I think, as I really like snowdrops and there aren't any of them.

That is a massive clean-up job well done! Seeing in in nicer weather will give you a better idea of what needs filling in and what you might like to plant. And crocus and daffs!

I have to chuckle about the odd bits that emerged from the undergrowth. But how sweet of the young man to put the umbrella in your table...no matter how broken it is. That is a careful worker.

It will be good to see what we actually have there now it is thinned out and de-cluttered. I think I will plant more daffs and some snowdrops for next spring.

And yes, you are right - it was sweet of him - they were a nice bunch of young men all round, really.

I love seeing the before and after of all that hard work. And how exciting to have a new space to work with. Our signs of spring are definitely trailing yours, so thanks for sharing your flower photos. Very encouraging!

They really did work hard - and now we can see what else might be needed - or just nice to have.

It has been such a pleasure watching those bulbs coming up - a real sign we will get spring after what has been, for us, a long, cold, winter.
