New Recipe for October - Blackberry and Coconut Squares..

This is not all that dissimilar to the Blueberry cake from September. Again I was baking to use what I had, and I had been out picking blackberries. So this is a recipe from my BBC Good Food Magazine - available on-line here.

This one is actually blackberries - but it would work with blueberries too, I'm sure.

Blackberries are freely available now - blueberries we have to pay for! (Apart from the 3-400gm I got off my two bushes)

It is good - I've had some, I took some to an elderly lady who lives nearby, and D-d has taken some home with her!

That's a lot of "drunk" fruit for your Christmas cake!

2.5lb of fruit to 12oz flour... It's baking slowly now.

It looks good, I wonder if it would work with out the coconut, just more oats, I do not like desiccated coconut?

That is going to be one boozy fruit cake.

Yes - replacing the coconut with extra oats would work fine.
