Gluten Allergies

A friend of the family found out this year that she can't eat gluten. So no more store bought cookies, fresh breads, or thick beers. She's uberdy bummed out! I'm gonna make her some homemade cupcakes since there's so many goodies out there she can't really have anymore ( Read more... )

also check out Bob's red mill. I make their chocolate cake mix in cupcake form for my dad all the time (he was put on a really weird diet by his holistic doctor). I also sub out regular milk for vanilla almond milk and vegetable oil instead of butter. I know it's not entirely "homemade" but they're still a really great option

I used the Bob's Red Mill brown rice flour as a flour substitute in my cupcake recipe today and they turned out alright. They're a little dense and didn't rise as much as with white flour, but they're pretty good.

I haven't baked any of these because I work at Babycakes and I haven't had a need to bake for a while, but these are recipes I've collected for that rainy day ( ... )

If you are looking for a mix, Pamela's makes a wonderful gluten free chocolate cake mix. You can't tell they are gluten free.
