Nope, you can't do that anymore

Do you use one of those web sites where you can post a pic of yourself nude? If so, as you probably already heard, that might be coming to an end.

The gov't was suppose to start enforcing a rule last week about anyone who is seen in an explicit pose. Under a last minute deal, the enforcement was delayed...but you can bet not for long.

The law has been around since 1995, but the Justice Department (er, i mean, the religious right who control the US now) has made a new interpretation of the law. And why? It's all in the name of preventing ch*ld p0r n...or so they say.

Under the new rule, all sites that post a nude pic (or provide a feed, etc) must have onsite, proof the the person is over 18. It us to be that the person who made a porn movie would keep such records, but now if a website buys the pics or video, they must also keep a record. And, I guess, that means that any site, including a dating/hookup site, that allows members to post a nude pic must also keep a record. So much for privacy.

What's even more interesting is that under the law you must also keep, forever, a record of all photos or video or anything else that depicts someone nude. So, if you're someone who decides to set up a website to stream a web cam image of yourself...guess what? You must now store and save the stream. Over time, of course, that would require a lot of storage space, not to mention logistics.

To understand how absurd this law is; if you're 55 years old, and decide to post nude pics of yourself, you must prove that your over 18. Common sense would prove it, but under the new interpretation, that won't be good enough. I don't know about you, but I doubt *ANYONE* would mistake a nude picture of a 55 year old for that of ch*ld p0r n.

(hehe, i just realized something, bots will pick up this post--even though i have in LJ settings not too--so I have to misspell some key words.)
