morgan taught me to shoot in the prone position. i killed 3 propanes and a plate this way. that's david on my left, and this here is morgan herself:
tell me that's not hot. she was in the army, so she's an expert at this particular rifle. i spent a lot of time admiring her perky butt. this is a photo of me admiring her perky butt. you can't see it here, so this is a better shot:
and here is the range we shot at. we were not the first people to shoot here, by far. those rusty overturned cars are full of bullet holes.
guns:
and guns:
these animals are full of propane. see?
and no post would be complete without:
exploding propane! i have no idea who shot this propane. they all start to look the same after awhile. lots of them went flying, leading to some tense moments; don't turn your back to the range while it's hot:
this is our camp by frog pond. there was a convenient fire pit there and everything. the desert makes strange fuel. sage brush burns hot and fast; you have to keep finding more of it.
sunset! just when everyone was thinking of retiring, david brought out the sparklers.
late into the night there was a bit of a... disturbance. it was as though somebody had turned into a hungry zombie. in response, audrey, david, and i went for a long walk, stargazed, and discovered a little tiny baby scorpion. i looked the scorpion up later. apparently it can kill you, but probably wouldn't. we didn't get a photo of the scorpion. sorry. a lot of these photos are by audrey, by the way. you can check if you go to the flickr pool by clicking on any of them. some are by mella and conor and others.
the next morning:
that's renee's birthday present to mike burstein. he's thrilled, can't you see? what better than a sculpture made with his favorite percolator?
see how happy he is? this is frog pond, which is a hot spring. although really it's just a little warm. and it has minnows in it. the minnows somehow managed to provide hours of entertainment. mustache fish! cleavage fish! want a fish? here's a fish! ...i doubt the fish were as thrilled as we were.
and this is a picture of (andy and) david, just cuz awwwwwww.
