All the political dram and upheaval in America at the moment is reminding me of my trip there waaaaay back in 2000. An election was called in Australia while I was there, and I had to do a postal vote, and the whole situation really threw things into stark relief ( Read more... )

My concerns about eating

What a fantastic speech. Apart from the gorgeous articulation of the experience of being othered and then finding peace with her identity, it's one of the best descriptions I've ever heard of being a child and unable to explain the truth of your experiences because there literally are no words with which to do so.
