Oh dear! My summaries are bad enough as they are (as well as some of my stories)! *laughs*
Okay, I'll give it a shot: Exiled to Siberia for blowing up five sixths of a military proving ground, disgraced super-scientist Dr. Rodney McKay (PhD., PhD.) gets caught in the middle of the Cold War. Stuck on a sinking nuclear-powered submarine, it's on him to find the saboteur and save not only himself and the sub's crew, but also the very ecosystem of the entire planet! Will he fix the leak on time? And can he trust the enigmatic perhaps-double agent John Sheppard? Rodney doesn't know - and it seems his luck has just taken a turn for the worse...
Okay, I was snickering right from the start, but then I hit this: but also the very ecosystem of the entire planet! and I totally lost it. THE ENTIRE ECOSYSTEM! During the Cold War! Heee. Will Rodney be able to do it? And will he and John have to fight a bad guy while tussling with uranium rods (just like in that James Bond movie--I love how stupid that scene is :)? And what about Rodney's claustrophobia, and will they end up hiding in a storage locker and will John have to distract him at a crucial moment *nudgenudge* so they aren't discovered by the Real Bad Guy? And and and, John in a really crisp Soviet uniform!!! *melts*
Okay, this is totally awesome, and I'm definitely going to be daydreaming happily about this for days! Thank you.
Yeah, well, you know, the submarine is totally sinking in the gulf stream and all the nuclear stuff will poison everything! Eleventyone! And there's an American sub out there set to destroy the Russian one before that can happen! BUT! Their echolot is disturbed by the whale Rodney once saved to impress his girlfriend, when it was stranded on the shore! And yeah, I second that uniform thing. *g*
This bad!fic summary challenge is a truly nifty thing. Thank you! :D
THE WHALES! *dies laughing* You are so brilliant. I am in awe. Awe, I say.
This story should totally crossover with Star Trek: The Search for Whales, because then, as well as sentient alien whales, you could have Spock on the sub! And many, many Kirk jokes! And John and Rodney ending up on a spaceship, heading off for an intergalactic adventure at the end!

It's an exceedingly fine hair to split, and I doubt I would have noticed outside the context of a badfic summary challenge. ;)
English is supposed to be my first language, and I still get all tangled up with lie, lay and layed. For some reason, I go to an R-rated place when people start explaining it to me.

I'm not gonna pretend that was on purpose. I have a talent for screwing up propositions. Go, language barrier! *coughs*
