I have a lot of updates!!!
First of all, YES, the wedding happened! I did my own hair and makeup on Friday. Saturday, a MUA did it for me, and she did an AMAZING job. But more on that later!
Let's get this out of the way before I rant and rave about the wedding. I finally made a few purchases that I am VERY happy with. Some quick reviews!
1.) Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Oily/Combination Skin in Buff 150. I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought myself a real foundation. At first, I didn't think I liked it very much. It's for oily/combo skin (totally what I have), so it seemed like it might be too dry. I originally applied it with a foundation brush, but I found that it was hard to blend out, because it would dry really quickly! I ended up using a lot more when I applied with a brush. In the end, I decided that it was best to apply and blend with my fingers. I could even concentrate it in certain places like under my eyes and tap to blend it out like a concealer. Over all, it covered really well and held it's own for a while. This is the first foundation I've used that actually left my skin feeling and looking matte on its own... for a little while, at least.
Pros
-Coverage was heavier but definitely buildable
-Worked very well with my oily skin
-Color match was so much better than other products I've used (it has a yellow/neutral undertone)
-Really lasted except for some shine on my nose... which always happens anyways
Cons
-After a full day of wear, I had a couple new zits on my chin and on my nose :(
-Because it really stays on your skin, removing it was tough, and I ended up having to wash my face several times
-Up close, texture looks a little funky on skin... would probably look better with some mineral finishing powder
-Looks only okay in photos, not super photogenic
2.) L'Oreal Paris Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black. OMG. Love love LOVE this. I've used it a few times already. It is the only drugstore liquid liner I have ever used that truly stays on my eyelids without fading, smudging, or running. The color is super black, and the way the felt tip is designed, you can either draw a thin line or a super bold thick line. And it's easy to wash off too! Which is not what I expected.
Pros
-Very black
-Doesn't fade
-Doesn't smudge
-Doesn't run
-Lasts through an entire day
-Still easy to remove
Cons
-None that I can think of! :)
3.) Maybelline Full N Soft Waterproof Mascara in Very Black. Okay, so here's the thing about this mascara. I already had the washable version in brown/black. I really liked it. It made my eyelashes look soft and feathery and had no lash fallout. I think that's one of the things it boasts on the label. Anyways, I didn't buy this until after the wedding, but on Saturday, coincidentally, this was the mascara that the MUA used on me! It really does thicken and define my lashes without making them look hard and spider-y. And even though it was waterproof, it was easy to take off without pulling out all my eyelashes.
Pros
-Makes lashes "full n soft"
-Very true to color
-Minimal clumping
-No lash fallout
-Holds a curl well
-Easy to remove
Cons
-Might smudge a little bit throughout the day
So... on with the wedding stuff! It was beautiful. Friday was the traditional Vietnamese ceremony where we go to the bride's house, do a partial tea ceremony, and then bring her back to our house where the ceremony is completed. There were tears and laughter. And also food. We had a tent set up in our backyard with tables, centerpieces (made by the matron of honor!), and even a heater because it was pretty cold that day.
The second day, I headed over to the hotel around 10am. Got my hair and makeup done (pictures to follow!). We all changed into our dresses, headed over to the church for the Catholic wedding ceremony. Afterwards, we went to a nearby hiking mountain range to take photos. Then I changed into another traditional ao dai and finished the day with a reception at the local country club. All in all, it was a very fun and emotional two days. I'm very happy for my brother and new sister-in-law. I first met her when I was still in elementary school, so I have known her for most of my life... and in many ways, I already considered her to be a big sister of mine.
The newlyweds are currently honeymooning at some beachside resort in Mexico. Those lucky ducks!
I'm still waiting on most of the pictures, and these were the only ones I could dig up.
The bride and all the bridesmaids! This is not the best picture of us. I think that most of us weren't even ready for the picture, as you can tell by everyone's faces. In case you can't tell, I'm the one on the very right. I was a bit unsure about the gray dresses at first, but they actually look nice really nice in photos and work well with the yellow flowers.
The newlyweds and my immediate family! I have 4 older brothers, so the other 3 brothers were groomsmen. There was 1 other groomsman as well, my brother's best friend from high school, but this is just our family.
Out of all the pictures that have been posted, this one shows my makeup the best... kinda. Also, this is the ao dai I wore to the reception. When the MUA asked me what I wanted, I told her that I wanted something "bright" that wouldn't make me look older than I am. I was mostly just in love with the way she made my complexion look. It really was what I wanted, and you can't see it here, but she put individual false lashes on me. Loved it. And I loved my curls!
EDIT: I found another one! I took this on my iPhone, so you can't really see all the details. I didn't bring my camera with me to the wedding, so there's a lack of nice photos on my part. Sorry! But you can see my hair and makeup a little better here. You can't see how crazy my eyelashes looked in person though! Still, I really liked the way the MUA did my face. It wasn't too heavy, but it wasn't as washed out as this photo makes it look.
More pictures as they come! It's been a super eventful week, and I have a bunch of presentations, papers, and exams coming up. <3
Love you all!

SECOND EDIT: I forgot to rotate the last photo. I'm so sorry, loves! I'll do it in the morning. Right now it's past midnight here and I am exhausted. :(
