Instead of wallowing in sad feelings about things I have no control over, I've decided to keep myself busy when not at work.
I've never had much of a green thumb, but a few months ago was toying with the idea of trying to maintain some potted flowers.
After sweating my tits off at the gym, I came home and swept the entire back patio. Then headed to Lowe's and got two 12" pots and two 6", potting soil and seeds. I got a wildflower mix to attract butterflies and hummingbirds (my grandmothers favorite!), a cypress vine which has white, trumpet blooms and moonflowers which have white, fragrant blooms. I had to germinate the seeds in water overnight but it's on today!
I'm thinking of getting a hummingbird feeder as I have great memories of my Grandma and I standing at her kitchen window for for hours, staring at the beautiful hummingbirds. Although, I can't remember the last time I saw a hummingbird around these parts? Too hot maybe?
I know she will be tickled to hear of my gardening adventures. She always maintained a beautiful backyard full of varieties of roses, hibiscus and other pretty plants.
Can't wait to be elbow deep in dirt later today!
