A giant tortoise thought to be the world's oldest living creature died this week in India.
Officials say Adwaitya, whose name means "The One and Only," was about 250 years old. The tortoise is said to have been the pet of a famous British military officer, Robert Clive, who lived in India in the middle of the 18th century.
The tortoise lived at the zoo for about 130 years. Officials said the shell will be preserved and kept at the zoo. There also are plans to test the shell to check Adwaitya's age.
