Romantic Dinner Episode II: The Waiting

Feb 22, 2008 16:22

Shopping was accomplished on my lunch break, got home and whipped through making the pasta salad in about 40 minutes. My knife work has gotten better, so I was able to chop the red pepper, zucchini, olives and broccoli in no time (I just realized that I forgot to get a red onion - d'oh!) and grate the carrot. It's all mixed up and chillin' in the fridge, and the beef is out to warm.

I'm off at 6, Wendi is off at 7 (but she's getting wine afterwards so home a bit before 8 I'm guessing) so I'll have time to do some more tidying up at home and scrape the stubble off my face before she arrives. Then the living room/dining room will get slightly rearranged to pull the table out away from the wall to be set for dinner. The stargazer lilies and the rose I gave her for V Day are still looking nice so they can go on the table with the candles.

I'm researching how to broil steaks - I can grill steak easily, but have never done it in the oven. The stuff I am reading makes me think it won't be too hard to do, my only concern is to keep it from being overcooked.

Now I have the wait to deal with...ah, Wendi is in a groove and might work later but will keep me posted so I can adjust as needed. I just want tonight go be perfect

dinner, wendi
