Shuichi walked dreadfully into the coffee shop. Today was the day that his father had said he would be meeting him at his job. Not only was it odd for his father to take trips such like these, but Shuichi found himself nervous. He hadn't had many conversations with his father, except strictly business ones. The thought of his father coming to speak with him worried him.
A couple of hours passed, but still no sign of his father. Shuichi had relaxed. Maybe by the time his father got there, Shuichi would have gotten off work. It seemed almost as soon as Shuichi thought this, a tall man with small trimmed glasses, with pitched black hair brushed smoothily back, walked into the shop. He was in his fifties though he looked younger. He carried the look of a business man well.
He walked up to the counter almost as if he was unsure he was doing it right. He attempted a smile at Shuichi, but only managed his smirk that meant he was up to something. It was the same smile he gave many of his affiliates.
"Shuichi, son. Mind if you take a break and come sit with me for a bit?" he asked in that deep voice Shuichi sometimes recalled in his dreams.
"Sure, Father," said Shuichi, following him to a table. Here it comes. Whatever his father had came here for.
"Shuichi, I have a present for you. Now don't take this wrong. This is business-related. My business too, so it's highly important that you take me seriously." He paused to let his words sink in before he continued. "I have for you a bird. His name is Raijin. Washio's watching him for us at the moment, but once you return to your home, he will become your responsiblity."
Shuichi's father continued, not giving Shuichi a chance to voice his opinion. "He is our connection to our top dealers, Lucifer's Reckoning. I've recently heard that some of LR's own members attend your school, which works out perfectly. This is your shot at working for us, for me, so don't screw this up. The bird has been taught to transport messages to its sibling, which is with the LR's leader. I've left instructions with Washio in how these messages work. It'll be your job to handle taking care of their needs. If the need more dope, you will get in contact with the division under me which handles that." He spoke that slightly quieter than the rest.
"You've been trained well by own father, so I trust you know exactly who to contact and whatnot. Any other questions you have, ask Washio. He knows what to do." Fuyuuji leaned back in his chair and speaking in a voice that the neighboring seat could clearly hear, "Now I would like a cup of coffee if you don't mind."
He gave Shuichi a wink as Shuichi obediantly stood and headed for the counters once more. He had been correct. His father wasn't there to check up on him. He was there for business. As it always went. He proceeded to prepare the cup of coffee, his eyes narrowed and distant.
