So I counted the days left in school. I'm thinking around 52. Exciting huh? I had an okay week. It was a busy busy week with highs and lows in behavior. Ya know, thinking of my job today got me thinking to one of the good things about it: it is FLYING by! At the same time though, the beginning of the year seems so long ago that it's hard to believe it's part of the same year. I just love that I plan from week to week. I mean, when I have a topic that I hate, I don't have to worry about it for months and months or even years. I have a topic, I plan and execute it in a week, and then I move on. Thinking in terms of WEEKS, I have few topics left to cover. It's thrilling!
I just finished dental health. Next week we will move on to dinosaurs. I'm sure they'll be interested, I just have to figure out WHAT to teach. Working on subtraction too. In kindergarten. They're so smart!! :) I had two high school teacher cadets visit my classroom on Wednesday. Before they left I had a chance to talk to them a bit. The girl was shocked to hear they were only in 5K . . . . she said they were too smart! :) I must admit, I love to hear people talk about how great they are. I've worked hard on them and their successes are MY successes!
That said, they sucked MAJORLY on Monday and Tuesday. I'm glad that it's Friday. I need a break. As usual.
As Valerie and I were leaving school today we saw a young blonde girl walk in dressed somewhat decently and carrying a monogrammed bag. Definitely someone in for an interview. It's weird to see someone come in for an interview. I don't know why, I just find it odd. This time next year I could be friends with her. Or then again, she might not get the job. OR this time next year she could be struggling along . . . . I'm hoping she's after Blakely's job. I'll still be the "most experienced" traditional kindergarten teacher. Annie decided today she wanted to stay, if Mr. Adams will have her. That's still up in the air. Not worth discussing really. I find it strange that in two years I have been closely associated with two people that Mr. Adams isn't too thrilled with hiring. I find that highly unusual. It makes me sad.
Tonight I'm gonna take it easy. Tomorrow I have to be at the Humane Society before 11:00 to set up for Pip's birthday celebration. Which means I have to make the birthday cake tonight, go buy some chips, get ready for a good time. And of course, a camera. :) THEN tomorrow night I have to go to . . . GASP . . . BOOHISS . . . UNION. Yes, Union. Morningside is having a drag beauty pageant. Paul is entered and Benny is announcing. It's gonna be interesting. I have to finally celebrate Mom's birthday too. And I'm sure she'll make me go through shit from the old house. And then I won't want anything and she'll get mad about the 1) waste of money and 2) I'm heartless because I don't want anything "sentimental."
I'm already looking forward to Sunday, just cause I'll get to come back home. JD has informed me that I am to pencil him in for some Jenn time. Probably take the boys out for a good walk downtown or something. Definitely lowkey. Then on Monday I have very exciting plans . . . . Susie is coming to town so we can have Ladies Night at the Melting Pot!! Only $35 for cheese fondue, salad, small entree, chocolate dessert, and a drink! Can't beat that! :) Now if only I didn't have class on Tuesday . . . . Thursday is our next sushi meetup!! I hope it's a hit!
I'm ready for St. Patricks WEEK! I have already planned a weeks worth of fun treats. My favorite is a guilty pleasure. We are going to have green jello one day. And just WHAT do you think that green flavor is? No, not lime, not apple, not kiwi, not mint (yuck); the new flavor is MARGARITA!! Yes, my kids will be eating margarita jello for a snack. I can't wait to see the reaction when they taste it. I wonder if they'll like it . . . :)
Off to enjoy my night to myself. I hope you do the same.
