I haven't been keeping up with my LJ duties lately for reasons unknown. I guess I can go back to Thursday.
Thursday's half day at school went smoothly. Can you believe I actually made it to school BEFORE the kids left the cafeteria? Surprise surprise for Jenn. I spent most of the morning sorting junk and looking for items to turn in around the school. I wore heels (the ones I wore the night I fell) and it was NOT the smartest move I've ever made. We had a sing-a-long in the cafeteria with all of the kindergarten and first graders. Some of the Upper Montessori children performed for us too, which means I was able to see my friend Christopher one more time. We had a chance to say goodbye. My first elementary boyfriend, ahh . . . how sad. (Really, I'm kidding!! This is just the kid that asked for my number after telling me I was pretty. And next year he'll be at the middle school.) After the program I spent the morning out at recess, visiting with Ella (and getting a Clemson pad of paper and pens) and wandering about the school. I was in the class during dismissal. I stood at the door and hugged the kids goodbye. And THAT was the end of my first year. However odd my first year was, it was still my first classroom. And now it's over.
After school the staff all headed to Mary's on Main for lunch. It was absolutely delicious. Rebeclynne, Coggins and I sat together, one last time. We were joined by a Montessori teacher who turned out to be really funny. That's the interesting thing about these staff get togethers: everytime we go out we get "stuck" with someone new and then it ends up still being quite fun and interesting. I must be growing up.
Thursday night Ace came over. 3000 was at the beach so it was just the three of us. We played Power Hour; it went quite well. THEN we went to Ace's apartment for a little extracurricular activities that we are unaccustomed to doing. Ace is quite versed. Finally Susie, being sleepy Susie, decided it was time to come home. I wasn't exactly ready but I decided to play the smart card and NOT stay there alone . . . . I somehow got the feeling I might get myself into trouble. Apparently I was right . . . while Susie was chasing Pip down the stairs I was pulled back into the apartment for a kiss and an invitation to spend the night. The kiss I accepted. The invitation, I did NOT!
Friday . . . . nothing. Nothing to say. At all. Well, I did go to school at 9:30 and spend two hours cleaning/sorting with Nana and Renee. I was out of there by 11:30. I know I'm going to have a lot to do in August but at least cleaning Friday was a start. We had plans to go out to dinner and then downtown but Ashleigh missed her flight. Twice. So needless to say, while Susie and I sat here all day waiting to hear from Ashleigh we started drinking wine and just decided to stay in all night.
Benny came over Saturday to do some cleaning. He swept, mopped, vacuumed, and shampooed the carpet. So nice. We went to lunch at Moe's (he loves it) and I treated him to pay him back for all of his hard work. I really wouldn't mind doing it but I'm still not supposed to be doing those types of things.
Saturday night Bethiboo came over. She had an interesting time meeting Ace and then we were off for grocery/Peels shopping. We made Hawaiian pizza, had a couple of drinks, had a good time.
Sunday night turned out much better than I had anticipated. Susie and I ended up at Wild Wings for dinner and drinks with Saba, Ashleigh, Bryan, and Trey. It isnt much that Susie and I get out ya know. ;)
Yesterday was Memorial Day. We celebrated by staying in and watching a Law & Order: CI marathon. The couple of times I DID go outside it was simply miserable. I'm sorry, I'm just not into toughing it out; I'd rather stay in the cool air conditioned apartment. I hate days like the 4th of July and Memorial Day when you're "supposed" to be out doing something summery. It's just another day, and another day it's STILL too hot to be outside. We left the apartment to get ice cream and to hang out with Ace, 3000, and Renzo. 3000 came back drunk as hell. When he first came to our apartment he couldn't even walk straight. Oh, the boys we hang out with.
So today really feels like the first day of summer. Susie is here with me. It's 1:26. I've been up a couple of hours doing nothing. Susie came into the living room and turned on TNT. Primetime in the Daytime. Yes, this is our summer.
