What a whirlwind day yesterday turned out to be! First things first, Nana showed up to drag me out of bed by 9:30 so I could make it to my very last day of therapy. For a last day it was quite uneventful. Can I say first of all I was a bit irritated with Laura. They kinda made a big deal about me coming early so I worked with her and then she was busy and I was basically shuffled between FOUR different people. Luckily I know my exercises by now so I pretty much just ran through them as quickly as possible. Like I said, for a last day it was quite a let down. But hey, at least it's one hurdle out of the way!
After therapy I hurried home for a wardrobe change and then to the DMV to get my new supercool handicap pass. I figured being in Greenville it may come in handy. And to think I waited a month to bother picking it up! According to the DMV I am officially handicapped until September 30th. How cool is that?
I quickly made my way to school so I could catch my class in time for recess. I must admit I had no reason to be there, I just wanted to hang out. It was a good day to go. I saw the kids, chatted a bit, caught up with Rebeclynne and listened to Reagan bash the class. I'm not going to go there. Possibly more details to come. (I should be one of those bloggers that use fake names but I think it's beyond my capacity to remember all of my made up names!) My class had computer lab this week and Rico was in there (as usual) so I took the kids to activity and hung out the entire time. I was very irritated to see that Reagan followed us down there. Um hello . . . I can handle the class! Whatever. I made a point to NOT go back to the classroom until five minutes before dismissal so I wouldn't "cause a disturbance." Needless to say, when I went to the classroom to say goodbye I was met with chaos. Seems to me that I'm not the trouble after all . . .
I was very pleased to see that I had an e-mail from Mr. Adams informing me that Ms. Thomas was doing her Praxis test yesterday. If she passed she would be considered "highly qualified" and then eligible for the job as my assistant next year. He promised to e-mail me in the next two days with a decision. (More on this)
After school we had a surprise visitor: MRS. LATIMER! She wanted to pick something up and was surprised to see me there. We all gossiped for a bit and it was quite interesting to hear what she had to say about her dismissal. She said Mr. Adams gave her the option of resigning or being terminated from the district. She then said she "refused to be dismissed from the district." She said she was given a perfect evaluation two weeks before and she would not allow him to dismiss her for "one mistake." I'm a bit upset that Mr. Adams would give her a "perfect evaluation." I mean, he KNEW all of the problems we were having! Our problems were noted and discussed on EVERY evaluation I have had. If that is the case I believe it should have been discussed with her as well! But that's beside the point. She was trying to get Reagan or me to tell her what Mr. Adams said, which child "tattled," etc. She blamed it on one particular child and I couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore. I quickly informed her that I knew for a fact it was not THAT child because I had spoken to his mother on the phone the day before and she asked me what had happened. I would have loved to have told her that REAGAN was the one that did it! Then the crazy woman had the audacity to ask if I was coming back next year and then tell me that I had to tell him I wanted her back. RIGHT! Is she seriously that deranged? Or just clueless?
After school I met up with Susie and the complex managers and we headed to the new apartment. Problem: we saw the second floor on the opposite side. We will be on the first floor facing the road. Second problem: our new apartment will have a fireplace (a surprise for us!!) and the one we saw didn't so we didn't get a good feel for how to arrange the living room.
**Pros: Fireplace, laundry room, extra closet in the dining area, bar area (which Susie's Mom is furnishing with bar stools).
**Cons: My room is so oddly shaped I can't figure out how to arrange it, or if it's smaller. The closet is more narrow and I can already tell I don't have nearly as much room in there. This is bad because not only do I have a surplus of clothes I used all the floor space for more of my stuff. Problems will arise.
At any rate, I'm still excited!
After the apartment viewing Susie and I spent some time in the old apartment living room catching up. Lord knows there is no going in my room. It's packed full of boxes. Ah . . . good times. *Sigh*
Michael called me when he got off work so I headed to his place. Michael, Lee, and I headed to Wasabi and met up with Rebeclynne. Guess who got the prime parking spot right in front of the door? Oh yeah HANDICAP! :) The manager came over to tell me he was glad to see me back. Nice to be missed. :) The waitress heard the story and asked if I needed a drink. NO! Get this though: the usual $9 were on special. They generally have ONE DRINK on special. Last night EVERY DRINK was on special. How much? First she told then $6 and I wanted to die. She was wrong. She came back to tell them they were all on special for $5! How did this not ever happen when I was still drinking? Geez . . . the injustices of the world!! I had my first taste of alcohol in over two months. NO I DIDN'T DRINK! Michael gave me two of the cherries out of his apple martini. I think I should consider regrowing my own. ;)
After all was said and done, I was on the move for over 12 hours yesterday. Sounds like a normal day to most but it was quite a jump for me. I generally plan one, maybe two activities in a days time so I don't wear myself out. I packed yesterday full. I paid for it today!
I spent today in the bed aching as if I ran a marathon yesterday. My butt/leg muscles haven't felt like this since I took kickboxing! Whew! Then again, I guess it's good for me so I won't complain too much. At least I'm not complaining about my back.
Susie called me early today to give me good news. She was at LES working and Ms. Thomas was subbing there. She approached Susie and gave her the good news that she called Mr. Adams yesterday and accepted the job as my assistant!! Well, she'll start this year, (Monday or Tuesday) but she'll still be mine next year! I'm excited to have someone young, fun, and willing to listen to ME in the classroom yet still be able to manage the craziness. Rebeclynne will be gone next year but at least I'll have Ms. Thomas there now. Not a fair replacement but it'll make my classroom a much better environment for me AND the kids.
Allyson came over tonight to do nothing with me. We're cool like that. I finally left the house because Mom wanted ice cream. Go figure. The one night it's cold and she sends us out for something cold. Silly woman!
It is past 3:00 and I should have been asleep hours ago. Tomorrow Pip and I are supposed to go to Greenville for a pug meet up. Silly sounding maybe but I think it'll be good for both of us. Pip needs to socialize and play (which I can't do) and I want to meet new people. I mean, they may all be old and no fun but there's a good chance that there are some young people there. And I mean, I DO need to meet people with similar interests. And Pip is quite an interest for me. :)
After our meet up we are going back to the complex to walk through our REAL new apartment. We'll get a sense of where to put everything then. Bad thing is that neither Susie nor I are good at the visualizing. Ah well, we'll figure it all out! Benny may come and maybe he can help us out a bit.
I'm going to bed now. No more rambling.
