To fall is defined as to be dropped under the force of gravity. As in, descending downwards without the air trying to save you-in fact, all it does it swarm up your nose and fill out the space in the inside of your cheeks.

It is also defined as to become less or lower. A drop in temperature, salary, or life.

To become unchaste or to lose one’s innocence. You put all this stupid trust into a guy who’s supposed to protect you from the uncertainties and the sour side of life. And then he goes and turns on you, tricks you like one of those scary guys he’s supposed to keep you from.

To succumb to attack. Yeah. Because you really wanted to know what breaking glass felt like against your back. It wasn’t because you wanted it. It might have been because his hands were finally on you. Or maybe you just didn’t see it coming. Maybe you still weren’t used to being betrayed.

To lose status, dignity, or character. The moment you’re helpless, you’re less of a man. Everything that once made you feel pride is gone, sucked out of you and replaced with that stupid and unforgiving air. You are nothing. You are made of nothing and all you are good for is falling and seeing spots.

To drop down wounded or dead. Feeling your back break, your bones snap, everything filling with pain. And then blink, and you’re landing upright, on both feet, a little bloodied and bruised, staring into the wide and fearful eyes of the man who threw you out the window in the first place.

Even after falling once, you never get used to it.
