It’s been said that any publicity is good publicity, but Hiro was almost certain that was not the case for them.
“Stop giving me that look, dammit!”
“No. I won’t. Because this is all your fault!”
“How is it my fault?”
“Whose idea was it to get dressed in the bus?”
“We were running late! We wouldn’t have had time to do it before the show!”
“Well. Some good that did us.”
“How was I supposed to know the bus would break down?”
“You didn’t have to bend over like you did,” the keyboardist was hissing, gone beyond annoyance.
“I dropped my cell phone!” Shuichi snapped back defensively. “Yuki might’ve called at any time!”
“Shuichi, he never calls!”
“That’s none of your business!”
“It is when you’ve gotten me arrested, moron!”
Hiro buried his head in his hands. He could just imagine the look on Ayaka’s face when she found out he’d been taken away for indecent exposure and, even worse, prostitution. Her parents may never let him speak to her ever again.
“Not my fault! Besides, I thought we wanted someone to pick us up!”
“Not when K and Sakano weren’t with us! And didn’t you find it odd that he called you ‘baby’?!”
“Oh. I thought he said ‘maybe’.”
“How does that make any more sense?!”
“Stop yelling at me!”
Hiro resisted the urge to bang his head against the wall and instead pried Shuichi out of Suguru’s chokehold. He made sure to stay between them until K and Sakano bailed them out. When he finally got through to Ayaka, she told him in an icy tone that her mother had taught her not to talk to hookers, and she hung up on him. He stared at the phone in horrified and devastated silence for a while, before he calmly began strangling his best friend.
