Day 2 in Chicago

This hotel computer is pretty good, even if it is facing out into the lobby. "Why don't you use your phone?" you ask. Because my phone is an ancient Galaxy Stratosphere, and when I ask it to do anything, it has a coughing fit and has to lie down. But it has a pull-out keyboard. Since I can't use the touchscreen kind, I have to stick with this until I can find something better.

This morning we went on the Chicago Architectural Foundation's boat tour. It was fantastic. I did it years ago when I was in Chicago solo. Jeff loved it. We have opposite taste in buildings. I love Art Deco, he loves 60s and 70s butt-ugly. It wasn't as hot as yesterday, but the next two days are going to be hovering around 100!!!

The conference goers are arriving. To my dismay, I know virtually no one, which was not the case 7 years ago. Plus, I'm still not 100%. I slept all afternoon. We went out to a Bavarian Hofbrau restaurant. The waitresses wore the traditional extremely tight black vest skirt combos with ruffled white blouses and cleavage pushed up so high it was nearly to their chins. There was a singer and an accordion player. We each got weisswurst (white sausages) and a pretzel. Somehow the massive plates of schnitzel, spaetzel and saurkraut did not appeal.

So, that's today's report. "Business centers" have changed since phones became the device to use. Now, there's generally one crappy desktop stuck in a corner somewhere. This one is not only in the lobby, it faces outward.

real life, travel, nice scenery, personal
