what I did on Thursday
So I landed went to pick up my car upgraded to the hybrid for $30. I oculdnt' resist and thinking on how far my hotel is from the airport I think I did good.
Driving in LA yeah that's interesting. Speed limit. Umm where are the signs? I just stayed with traffic. I managed to find the PCH relatively easily thanks to directions from my attendant. Wow were there signs of the landslides all over. Many times we were reduced to one lane due to flooding and slides. I hit a couple beach areas one I actually went walking in the sand but not wading. the oterh time I found a space I watched a bunch of surfers from a cliff. very interesting. Then I kept moseying around. I misssed the road I should have taken to Camarillo crap that's what I forgot at W-world a map of the area/state.
I will call this place though the U turn capital oh and police and highway patrol. I couldn't sneeze without hitting one. I lost count after the first 20.
Finally wiggled my way to the hotel. they were short staffed so none of the rooms were ready so I drove up to Moorpark to find the campus. Can we say no signs? Also there's a lot of agriculture. I ended up about a quarter of a mile behind an onion truck. I also passed what I believe was a celery field what a burning sensation from them turning the remains back into the ground.
Finally found the school after a couple side trips. Everything is permit parking. I found a spot and did a quick walk around campus. You can really see the effects of cutbacks at this school. I picked up a campus paper. I have to laugh that they get one out once a week while IHCC only gets theirs out once a month.
it will be an adventure. then I mosied back to the hotel wow hello people. Oh I should go back to my first visit to the hotel. What fun and friendly characters. I asked if they had a restroom they let me use theirs. I believe this one guy is a manager and he teasingly said that will be a dollar I shook my fist at him smiling. the look on his face. Let the teasing and fun begin. So when I returned when it was crowded he was there helping people and we were talking and I found out a little late that not all the rooms have wireless yet. grrrrr. When my teaser wasn't as busy I told the guy that was helping me-poor nit wit- that the other guy was trouble the teaser is like nooooo you are the teaser. My little teaser told me talk to Bobbie in the morning and we'll try to get you switched since you are staying so long. Thanks I need internet to research the apts I will be checking out.
This has been interesting. I was tired by this time I had flown a thousand + miles then I ended up driving like another 130 miles. sheesh. I"m tired. I have a fridge in my room yeah good thing at the last moment I tossed the cooler out at home.
So I ate oh here's something it's hard to find wendy's because ALL the buildings are a pale tan with a terra cotta roof. You have to watch carefully. I will be trying del taco sometime soon I think it's like our Taco Hell but may be better with all the mexicans around. YUMMMMM.
So I come up with a warped way to get my picture for Friday. didn't turn out the best but it will work so of corse I had to find someplace to develop it so off I go looking for a W world, sams, target whereever I can find a place to read my data card and print a real picture.
I found both of the above one thing that threw me was the words were not the same color as back home. Got my picture done on the picture maker expensive but it's done. I then went to W world since I realized I hadn't seen a TCF and I have no way to transfer money to that account anyways. So I go to W world pick up some bottles of water, slimfast, lip balm, and cheap scissors to trim my picture. oh my did christmas suddenly show up? LInes were packed all of them including the lines for self checkout. I saw quickly when I was waitin gin line why the selfs were so backed up. People here dont' get that it is weight on both sides that allows people to do it. other wise you couyld scan one thing and throw something else in the bag. I saw one little girl leaning on it, one guy with his hand on it resting, another's kids was grabbing stuff off of the first conveyor belt before she rang the previous item up.
IF YOU DON"T KNOW HOW TO USE IT THEN DON"T TRY TO LEARN WHEN IT IS PACKED. I of course beat both of the groups I stood and watched constantly screw up. Oh I was pissed. if I could speak spanish I would have helped them.
Now I am back to the hotel still can't catch the wireless signal I have my window open I wish I felt secure enough and thought people would be quiet when arriving late I'd leave them open all night.
OH another weird thing is getting used to how they know when to watch a show. I have been spoiled by being in central. I thought SG-1 would come on at 5PM like home-NOPE try 6PM so I didn't make it to the beach to watch the sun set. another day.
I am tempted to go on a whale watching excursion.
we'll see.
OH and thank god I picked up the Ipod to add to my other one. it's actually having better luck here. not the best but better then the other. the main problem is almost every friggin' airwave has something on it.
well it's 10PM here midnight back home. bed time.
