Today I had the pleasure of meeting children's author and illustrator Eric Rohmann. My library hosted him as part of our Summer Reading Program. He spoke at our Main library, 2 branches for the children and spoke at a public reception. I learned that not only was he from Chicago, but was a Cubs fan. As I was clocking out to go home for the evening I was introduced and had the opportunity to talk a little baseball with him. He was really nice and I am very pleased that we had him at our library. I know that he signed books for my Assistant Director's young grandsons which I thought was also nice. I have often heard of authors that were not as easy to deal with, but this one was a delight.
On a separate note I must give a word of thanks because last night Sis and hubby were unhurt after a wreck. They were pulling an empty trailer on the interstate, they hit a wet spot which caused them to hydroplane and the trailer to jackknife. They crossed the other lane and ended up stuck in the median. Remarkably they managed to not hit anyone or have anyone hit them. Given how busy this road is, that is truly the hand of God protecting them. They did have to be pulled out of the mud, but were able to drive home. I am truly grateful they are ok.
