These are apparently "bucket list" adventures...

...for those of us who are homokshewels... (That's my silly and childesh way of saying "gay". LOL)

According to the Mister B&B website, THIS ARTICLE (which is titled "Never Have I Ever: LGBTQ+ Milestones To Do At Least Once"), these are some of the things that all good LGBTQI+ travellers should do.

Of course, I'm not going to outline the entire article here, but summarise each point.

If you want to read more, I have graciously put the link in to this LJ post. Because I'm such a sharing and caring person...

* Have a drink at the Stonewall Inn in NYC

* Attend Madrid Pride

* Stroll through the Marais in Paris

* Set sail on a gay cruise

* Dance the weekend away at Berghain in Berlin

* Walk in the footsteps of Harvey Milk in The Castro, San Francisco, and stop by his camera shop

* Stay a night in one of the Axel Hotels' hetero-friendly hotels

* Attend a WorldPride - the next one is in Washington DC in 2025

* Spend a summer in Provincetown

* Hit up Sydney Mardi Gras

Well, I've most certainly done Sydney Mardi Gras, as I live here. Many times, especially in the 90s, but far FAR less in the last decade or so. Mainly due to my shift work, depression, and introverted discomfort of socialising.

And we were lucky enough to host the very first World Pride in the Southern Hemisphere, and I did the major event of that (and that was my only one), which was to march across the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Funnily enough, my friend Kim lives in Washington D.C (well, Arlington), and I haven't visited her there since 2012, so maybe its a good time to go there agin?

I have indeed walked through the Castro, and although I didn't realise his camera store was still there, I DID buy a set of newly released Harvey Milk stamps, and the Post Office postmarked the corner of the sheet for their release date. I wonder if they have any value? I've actually framed them...

I haven't had a drink at The Stonewall Inn, but I have been there, and peered in, and walked through the park(s) nearby. My friend Dale lives in an apartment building right next door, and I visited him there on my first trip (again) to NYC in 2012.

Madrid sounds like fun, as does Berlin, although I fear my nightclub days are FAR behind me.

I've never really had a desire to go to France. I've just heard a lot of people... dislike it. Noisy, busy, dirty, and too many touts and pickpockets in the tourist areas. I'm sure people who love history, art and food, love it... but I just have a feeling I wouldn't.

And yes - I definitely would LOVE to do a gay cruise. Probably not the ones that have the muscled up circuit party queens, but one of the cruises that caters perhaps towards the "bears" or/and an older clientele.

And I have a lot of friends that do go often to Provincetown - mainly either for the Bears week, or the SpookyBear event at Halloween (which would tick off another bucket list item for me, and that's to experience a Halloween in the USA). I think my friend Richard actually moved from Farmington, ME, to Providence, RI - I will have to ask him!

So there you have it... a bit of adventure. Before dementia!

And of course, I didn't really do much today.

And if you look closely, to prove I took the photo, you can see me in the reflection, holding my camera - and an umbrella!

travel, life
