I finally got around to trying this and switched some things up a bit. I ended up with
Aside from the color layer changes, instead of flattening the image, I changed the opacity of the second to last soft light layer, then put the last desaturated layer as Luminosity. This made the image crisp and bright at the end, although I'm certain that those who asked for the tut didn't really want crisp (hee.) Thank you so much for posting this! It's a wonderful tut, you did a great job! I never would have thought of the hue/sat layer, myself.
