Tutorial #2: Blue Christmas

Nov 22, 2006 00:35

My second tutorial. Yay? As requested by
mellie on
icon_tutorial. And
stellarstar83.

Made in Photoshop Elements 2.0 so completely translatable (to everything except MS Paint, but you can do better than that. Gimp is free.)

This:
To this:

Just another blue exclusion layer icon. I should do a selective color tutorial. Meh. I'll do it later if you guys like this one.

1. To start with I prepped my base. I do Auto everything to begin with.
Auto Contrast and Color in this one.

2. Duplicate the base and set to soft light.

3. New color layer (#141227) set to Exclusion. Opacity %50

4. Another color layer (#8CC5FE) set to Soft Light. Opacity %50

5. New adjustment layer: Hue/Saturation (Master: -11)

6. New color layer (#F9F6E7) set to Multiply. Opacity 100%

7. Duplicate last soft light layer. Drag to top. Desaturate.

8. Flatten layers. Duplicate the final product, desaturate that layer and set to Soft Light. Opacity 100%
Flatten again.

And enjoy! I don't usually add text, but do what you will. It's all up to you.

Make changes. Change opacities. Change the saturation levels. Play around. That's how I figured this out. You'll be writing your own tutorials in no time.

Comment and tell me how I did. This is really my first tutorial. And if you want selective coloring in Photoshop Elements tutorials, comment I'll see what I can do.

ps, tutorial, christmas
