Moving in

Jul 10, 2003 09:48

Yancey and I finally got to check out of the hotel today. Such a relief. Maybe we don't have any furniture for the apartment yet, and we'll have to break out the sleeping bag again, but at least we'll have a space of our own ... and I don't have to keep worrying about fooling the credit card reader anymore.Today I'm going to start accepting bids ( Read more... )

*peeks through window and sees Cathy in back of store*
*raps lightly on it to get her attention*

*looks up, startled, then smiles at Evalon and hurries to the door*

Hi! C'mon in ... the place is still....

*looks around*

Well, it's not a mess, because the owners didn't let it become one, but there's just not much to it right now.

*smiles*

it looks like you've done more than i have in my store, even without anything in here. i've been kind of distracted lately.

did you find anyone to help with the rewiring yet?

No, but I have placed some requests for bids. Some of it I'd need to do myself--you remember the "special" features my old monitoring system had? That took hands-on work ... after the electrician had finished and his work had passed inspection.

*looks at the walls*

I can't figure out what color paint I'd like ... this is different enough from the old store that I don't want to try and reproduce what I had. And I need to remember to order business stationary--I need to get used to saying I'm on DeKnight Road. Was there a DeKnight Road back home? I can't remember, but I really wasn't in our Sunnydale for that long.

*glances upstairs and smiles* The apartment's different, too, luckily. Big enough for the two of us.

i was thinking i'd do all the work myself in my store, but i really do need someone to come in and install a major security system. i might ask you to give it a boost after it's installed, if that's ok.

i need to get business stationary, too....once i come up with a name for the store!

*laughs*

i think there was a DeKnight Rd in our Sunnydale....i'm not positive, though. i'm tempted to paint my walls red, because i love the color and it gives that warm glow to a room.

*gets excited expression*

oh! Michael told me about some Egyptian antiquities a business contact of his found. i would love to get some of those in my store! i'd probably even keep some for myself.

*smiles warmly*

is Yancey upstairs?

Of course--I'd be happy to do a protection spell for your store. Same kinda thing as I did for your condo? Uh, do you remember that? Even if you don't, I did--and let me know if you'd like me to do something for your condo as well, okay?

Egyptian antiques? Really? Very classy.

*smiles affectionately, looking upstairs again*

Yes, he's getting some sleep. He hasn't really been sleeping very soundly since we got here. *shrugs* Neither was I, for that matter. Being under a death order will do that ... and while he never told me, I got the feeling that there was a price placed on my head, too.

*shivers*

At least it looks like we don't have to worry about that here.

yeah, i remember the spell you did on my condo. i'm not sure if i need one here, it doesn't seem to be quite as dangerous in this dimension. wasn't it because of the impending apocalypse that we did one on my condo back home? things were getting really dangerous?

*looks concerned*

a death order sounds absolutely horrible, Cathy! it must've been awful for you and Yancey. hopefully you've both escaped that here.

*smiles and looks extremely happy*

i'm sorry, Cathy. i can't seem to stop smiling today. the way you look when you talk about Yancey reminds me of how i feel about Michael...he and i had a rather serious discussion last night.

*grins excitedly*

he told me he's in love with me.

Yeah, I'm not sure things are quite so apocalyptic here, which is nice, I must admit. We've both of us been needing some peace and quiet lately, after everything else that happened. We've just been--so tightly wound, y'know?

*smiles* So Michael's in love with you? That's wonderful, Ev! And you? Though I think your face gives you away there.

i remember feeling very wound-up just before we all left town. i wasn't under a death order like y'all, but i remember a sense of urgency, y'know?

*grins again*

i guess i shouldn't play poker anytime soon, huh? yes, i am in love with him as well. i know it seems really fast, but it feels right.

*smiles softly*

I know what you mean ... I didn't expect to fall in love with Yancey at all, much less as deeply and as quickly as we did.

*absentmindedly fiddles with her engagement ring*

I'm happy for you, Ev. I want--I want us all to be happy. Maybe that's a crazy thing to wish for on the Hellmouth, or even away from the Hellmouth, but ... I want us to be happy.
