Ask LJ: automated deployment of windows under VMWare?
VMWare is slowly driving me insane. I need to deploy a variety of windows OSes (Windows 7, Windows 8, Server 2008, Server 2012) from templates using scripts. We have hundreds of each to deploy, having any manual steps between initiating deployment and using the VM isn't acceptable.
The problem is, at least with windows 7, there are a number of places where the VM will stop and wait for user input before continuing.
Anyone have any experience with this? Has anyone got windows 7 to do no-touch deployments in VMWare?
Google hasn't been much help as the resulting process still requires touching the machines more than our current semi-manual process.
