I've gone crazy again
Yeah, so I will be working 3 jobs again this summer... I don't think I have had less than 2 jobs since 2005.
Today I got a job at a 6 week ESL program! I'm really excited about it and hope it will refresh my enthusiasm for teaching because at this point my current job has sucked the soul out of me.
So the ESL thing is 3 hours in the morning with as far as I can tell various levels of English speakers all K-3 and then I will drive over to the summer camp and work 4 hours in the afternoon. Standard church job still applies.
Yeah so about the sucking the soul out of me. My 4th graders are absolutely insane! I can't get half of them to pay attention and by the time I do get that half together the other half is so bored they start acting out. ON top of this any progress I make at all through cracking down is totally screwed up by the way they are allowed to act. They argue with the teacher they call out, even during tests, while she is trying to teach half the class is lost in their own conversation or worse - walking around the room (once play fighting as they did this) And the teacher does... NOTHING!
It's the end of the year and we are all ready to go home, there is nothing really left to teach because you finish your curriculum in Febuary/March to be prepared for testing.Next year I would just have 4th and 5th, but I have heard the 3rd graders are pretty bad too, and if nothing else changes with the structure what is one to do! I am really hoping I get another job, so far nothing panning out school year wise.
So what is up with everyone? I never talk to anyone. The days I'm feeling good everyone else feels like crap....boo! C'est la vie I guess.
