And due to the photo from the previous entry of a Selck family reunion I stumbled upon a woman who lives in Wisconsin and is married to a distant Selck relative of ours. Okay so brief family history lesson, starting at the top there's Anna and Timothy Selck who came over from Germany (sort of) in the late 1850s they had four kids, William, Cora, Lydia, and Lana. Cora was Grandpa Tom's mom and we all know where that line goes. This woman I met, Cindy, is married to a descendant from William's line. Willy married a woman named Ella, they had six sons, only three of which survived. One of them was Warren, he married a woman named Verna and they had two kids named Linda and Warren Jr. Linda had at least one son named James, who is married to Cindy who I met online.
It's weird, more than a little surreal, and sometimes slightly creepy, but mostly just really freaking cool.
She had really done her research too. She knew Nama's name and location, has pictures of Grandpa Tom's grave, she also knew of Miles and both Mama and Uncle Michael. The weird part (one of many) of talking to her was that she only knew given names, so even though I corrected her a couple times she kept calling Nama 'Bernice' which was just weird to hear.
Family history is fun!
