Lj to me: FAIL

May 10, 2009 21:37

I found this really cool site with great icons on lj.  I knew I would probably forget the site, so I tried to send a message to myself with the site included as a reminder to check it out again.  This is the exact wording of what livejournal sent me:

STOP TRYING TO MESSAGE YOURSELF, WE'RE NOT THAT KIND OF SERVICE

I find this to be really condescending and pompous. 'Not that kind of service'? What the hell are they referring to? Since when does lj hold itself to higher standards than any other social networking site on the internet?

And then the ordering me not to message myself. Not all of us own a fucking blackberry or iphone--some of us need to record our own daily reminders and schedules using more technologically 'primitive' means.

I feel like the lj owners are making fun of me. Their words provide this unspoken presumption that sending yourself a message is 'wrong'--and that anyone who does so is a loser who doesn't understand the rules.
