i hate friday the 13th. with a passion.

Oct 17, 2006 19:40

last friday was the worst. i'm not superstitious in the least, but someone - or something - had it out for me friday.

i got to school around 7:30 as always, then went to hang on the 4th floor of new science, like i always do on mondays and fridays. around 9:40, i got up to put my stuff away, and went to take my flash drive out of my purse and put it in my backpack. well, the lanyard that my flash drive is on was hooked to the handcuffs on my cell phone. i went to reach for my phone to pull it off of the lanyard, and it fell. then hit the ground. then slid between the fence and ground. then fell two stories. and crashed on the ground on the 2nd floor of new science. >:( i was cheesed. i looked over the banister to see 5 individual pieces (that had merely seconds earlier made up my phone) scattered about on the floor. so i went down and collected the pieces and went to bio.

all around me, people were texting. that made me even more mad. i wanted to text someone to tell them what happened. but i couldn't. i wanted to call my dad to tell him i needed to go to the mall to get a new phone. no can do. you need a phone to do that, crystal. duh.

we got out of bio early, as we usually do on fridays, and i drove straight to complete wireless. there, the guy told me that since i have only had my phone for a little over 3 months, i'd have to pay retail price for a new one. so i said i'd think about it and come back. man, i was really miffed now. i didn't understand why i'd have to pay $179.99 for a phone i just got for $70 in june. so i figured i'd go out to the mall and figure something out.

lucky for me, dad was home, so he drove. since he said my car hasn't been "blown out" in a while (i'm guessing that means "gone over 55"), we took shavonda, and he drove. we got to the mall, and at cincy bell, they told us the same thing; i'd have to pay retail price. this is because the warranty doesn't cover if it is dropped or gets wet, and i hadn't had it for a year yet. so then we decided i'd just use my old phone until i could get a new one on ebay or whenever june of next year rolled around.

so we were about a mile from perkins when shavonda started making this crazy noise. i thought she was going to blow up. this further frustrated me, and i was on the verge of tears out of sheer anger. when we got home (which was thankfully close, we could have gotten a ticket for noise pollution...) dad discovered that the weld holding two pieces of my exhaust pipe came undone. i blame him. i never drive on the expressway. shavonda's not used to going that fast, and she only has about 3 times since i've had her. so i had to pay $270 to get that fixed. grrrr.

i went back to school a little after one and went on a rant to poor tiffy. then i went to band and ranted to tj as well. it felt good to let some of that out, but i wanted nothing more than to throw my old phone (the one i had before the one that died eariler that day) at one of northern's many concrete walls then smash it to a pulp. just seeing it reminded me that my old phone was dead. i'm sorry, i know i'm spoiled, but i loved the phone i had. i bought it with my own money, and it was amazing. so after band, mom came and picked me up (since they were still working on my car) and i explained everything to her. shortly thereafter, i went to work.

that was normal. not too busy, but i was unnerved, and wanted to just go home and make sure i had everything together for the trip. after work i had to withdraw $500 from the atm to pay mom and dad back for getting my car fixed, my new phone (they got a new one while i was at work), and to have spending money in gatlinburg.

i don't feel like going into the details of the vacation right now. i'm a little tired, and a little grumpy from friday still. i got a nokia 6822 instead of the 6201i that i had, and i'm not sure how i like it so far. there was a typo in the manual, and that cheesed me off. i mean, it's a cool phone b/c it folds out into a QWERTY keyboard, but that's about as cool as it gets. i think i'll sell this one on ebay then buy another 6201i on ebay as well. it's really hard to navigate, and i know how to work the 6201i, and i definately prefer it over my new one.

it just sucks that i lost everything that was saved to the phone memory of my 6201i. pictures. contacts that had pictures assigned to them or any other details besides one phone number (address, additional numbers, etc). so i'll have to go in and add all those again.

*sigh* i miss my phone. it was so personalized. the ringtones on this new one suck majorly. i had 'geek in the pink' and 'defying gravity' on the other one, and whenever i got a message, napoleon dynamite said "sweet". there was a pic of house on my outer mini-screen, and a group shot of the cast on the inner big screen. i love it.. loved it, that is.

i did get some wizard of oz stuff in gatlinburg. that's cool. tins, a poster, a mouse pad, and 4 stepping stones that light up. i think i'll save them for when i have my own house, with a yellow-brick road leading up to the "there's no place like home" doormat (which i already have).

i'm not in the mood for school tomorrow. not at all. i need a day to just be lazy. i think i'll go watch some of my whose line dvd. that'll cheer me up. sorry for the long-winded entry, and for my mindless ranting.

Sealed With A Click,
Crystal Janel
